From Warehouse to
Residential Loft
One of the first Kamata projects were the lofts G48 in the Sulzer
complex, Winterthur. 27 lofts and approx. 600 m2 of retail store
surface were created
in one of the most characteristic buildings
of the former factory grounds.
The former main warehouse that dates back to
the year 1912 is a monu-
mental construction with
an iron skeleton and a visible brick façade.
The
building is shaped as a soft rounding, which
runs parallel to the area of
the Winterthur train station.
The industrial character of the warehouse G48, which has been
scheduled
as an ancient monument, has been preserved. These historical
elements
underwent a moderate extension and were combined with
modern accents.
The transformation lead to an appealing mix of
work and residential space. |
